Why Have A Facial?

Facial treatments at Sutherlands Hair and Beauty

As the most popular spa treatment after massage, a facial can be a relaxing and enjoyable way to unwind while addressing common skin complaints. If you have never had a facial before, you may be unsure what to expect. To help, we’ve put together a Facial Guide to arm clients with everything they need to know pre-treatment.

What Is A Facial?

Working out which facial is right for you can be a minefield but a good therapist will guide you to the right treatment. A traditional spa facial will encompass a deep cleanse, exfoliation and mask treatment incorporated with massage of the face and scalp. A mini facial may follow these steps without a mask while a luxury or extended facial may include extra steps and a more intensive massage on the back, arms and hands. Facials are always tailored to your individual needs and goals.

The skin clinic team at Sutherlands Hair and Beauty are always on hand with advice and information and offer free skin consultations for those looking to discuss treatments and their skincare regime.

Why Get A Facial?

Visiting a dedicated skincare expert helps you understand your skin and how it reacts to stress, hormones and the elements. All facial treatments involve an in depth consultation in which our therapist will gather a good understanding of your current skincare regime, diet and lifestyle. Coupled with skin analysis, this allows us to treat your skin based on its needs while arming you with the information you need to maintain your skin at home in between treatments.

When Should I Have A Facial?

Although a highly effective one off treatment, facials work best as part of an on going skincare regime. If you are trying to tackle a specific skin issue such as acne or rosacea, your therapist may recommend or weekly or fortnightly sessions until the problem is resolved. Those looking to maintain their results should ideally visit every four to six weeks. As a minimum, it is a good idea to book a facial every season so your therapist can rectify the damage caused by changing weather conditions.

Those with problem-prone skin may benefit from deep pore cleansing and extraction, which addresses congested pores and blackheads. This may cause redness for a few hours and is best performed later in the day or in the evening. If you are booking in for a facial to decongest the skin prior to a special event, always book your appointment a few days in advance.
